10 Delectable Vegetarian Recipe Sources We Highly Recommend

When embarking on a vegetarian journey, or even a less-meat journey, it can be overwhelming at first. What do I eat now? What are the best substitutes for meat and how do I get the nutrients I need? We get that it can be hard to change your diet! That is why we put together a list of 10 places where you can find mouth-watering veggie recipes. Bon appetit!

1. Hubbub

Hubbub is a UK-based charity that works on environmental issues with a creative flair. Their main goal is to create awareness and inspire ways of living that are better for the planet. Their recipe page is all about celebrating classic, comforting and familiar recipes. Make sure you select their vegetarian section on the blog for easy yet flavourful dishes. You can also have a look at their vegan recipes if you want to avoid all animal products.

2. Proveg International

Proveg is a non-profit on a mission to create a world where we choose delicious food that is good for people, animals and the planet. Their recipes are plant-based, but feel free to adapt them to become vegetarian. We also highly recommend you participate in their Veggie Challenge. They help you take the first steps towards eating less meat. You can choose between vegan, vegetarian or meat-free days.

3. Jamie Oliver

Jamie Oliver needs no introduction! This British chef achieved worldwide fame through his ample selection of cookbooks and by cooking up a storm on television. On his website, you will find a seemingly unending supply of vegetarian recipes that are delicious, healthy and inspired from all over the world. Extra handy: the recipes are either labelled as super easy, not too tricky or showing off.

4. Veggie Challenge.be

This one is for our Dutch, Flemish and French speakers! This is the Belgian version of the ProVeg Veggie Challenge meant to help participants eat more veg and less meat. With their handy dandy week menus in veggie, flexi or vegan, eating less meat has never been this straightforward.

5. The Veg Space

The UK-based Kate Ford has been a vegetarian for more than 20 years! She uses her extensive experience to create varied and decadent recipes. Make sure you try her stuffed naan bread and Beetroot & Goat’s Cheese Tart with Balsamic Red Onions. Our stomachs are already rumbling just reading that!

6. Dorothy Porker

As you can probabtell by the name, Dorothy Porker is the most eccentric chef on our list. Her food promises to make you scream with pleasure. Her recipes take 30 minutes max, with little effort and tons of flavour. We recommend her broccoli cauliflower cake, chorizo pasta sauce and ground tofu mince. Use this mince in any meals for which you usually use beef mince! This will allow you to keep your faves.

7. Smitten Kitchen

Deb Perelman changed her blog name to smitten kitchen because she met her husband in the comment section. How sweet! She started cooking in a tiny NYC kitchen and is now a force to be reconned with. Her recipes are approachable, easy-going and stress-free. She has a sizable list of vegetarian meals, so we are sure there is something for you too. How about a classic grilled cheese + cream of tomato soup?

8. Anna Jones

Anna is extremely experienced and has written well over a thousand recipes. She believes vegetables should be at the centre of every table. Her blog makes it super easy to find what you are looking for. Search recipes by meal type or even by season! Choose the quick but delish recipes for during the week when time is limited.

9. Naturally Ella

Erin Alderson was an avid fast food and processed meat-eater before her father had a heart attack at 45. She made the switch for her health and stayed for the flavour. Her food is comforting, fresh and wonderfully varied. She uses ingredients that everyone knows and loves.

10. Delicious from scratch

This blog has all kinds of vegetarian and vegan recipes. They describe it as “mostly healthy, sometimes decadent”. These recipes are perfect if you are looking for brunch ideas, dinner party showstoppers or luscious desserts. On the hunt for a hearty breakfast that will give you energy all day?
